Never shave a double coat in humidity — you'll remove their UV protection and make hot spots worse. Instead, use an undercoat rake to remove loose fur and let air circulate.
Hot, humid air triggers skin fold dermatitis in thick-coated breeds. The areas where fur is densest stay damp longest. After any outdoor time, check between the toes and under the ears — these are the first spots to flare.
