Dog Health & Weather in Los Angeles, CA
Warm and dry with sunshine 280+ days per year. Coastal fog moderates temperatures near the beach, but inland valleys can be 20-30°F hotter. Live conditions updated hourly.
Hey — quick update for your dog.
The numbers tell a story today.
At 94°F, flat-faced breeds hit their limit fast. Running is off the table. A short morning walk or shaded backyard hang is the move — and even then, watch for heavy panting or wide eyes.
Concrete is 10–15°F cooler than asphalt in the same sun. If you have to walk on hard surfaces today, pick the lighter-colored ones. Or better yet, stick to grass.

Today's Health Notes
Breed-specific advice for French Bulldogs in today's conditions.
Dry heat is slightly better than humid for flat faces, but still dangerous above 85°F. Their shortened airways can't cool incoming air fast enough. Morning walks only, carry water.
Hot dry air dries out flat-faced dogs' already-sensitive skin folds. Keep them moisturized with a pet-safe balm, and watch for cracking around the nose.
Dry heat means high pollen and dust concentration in the air. Flat-faced breeds mouth-breathe more in heat, bypassing the nose's natural air filter. If your dog is sneezing or has clear nasal discharge, the air quality is the culprit.
If you do go out in the heat, keep training sessions to 5 minutes max for flat-faced breeds. Short, high-value training (real meat treats) keeps their brain engaged without stressing their body.
