Dog Health & Weather in San Francisco, CA
Cool and foggy with mild year-round temperatures. Microclimates vary dramatically by neighborhood. Live conditions updated hourly.
Good morning, SF dog parents!
Don't let the clouds fool ya, that 84°F air feels brutal, and the asphalt is a sizzling 94°F.
Today's unusual 84°F heat and 74% humidity are a double whammy for our pups. For flat-faced friends like French Bulldogs, this means labored breathing and a higher risk of heatstroke, but all dogs are at risk. That 94°F asphalt is no joke on any paws; keep walks to before 9 AM or after 7 PM.
That 94°F ground temp can cause second-degree burns in just 60 seconds. Our pups' paws are more sensitive than our feet, making that heat even more dangerous today.

Today's Health Notes
Breed-specific advice for French Bulldogs in today's conditions.
At this humidity, your flat-faced pup can't cool down through panting. Watch for wide-mouth breathing or a dark tongue — that's heat distress starting. Keep walks under 10 minutes and carry water.
Humidity + wrinkles = skin fold infections. Wipe between facial folds with a dry cloth after any time outside. Moisture trapped in wrinkles breeds bacteria and yeast overnight.
High humidity is the worst breathing trigger for flat-faced breeds. Moist air makes already-narrow airways swell further. If you hear wet, rattling breaths today, keep them in air conditioning — it's not just uncomfortable, it's an airway risk.
Flat-faced dogs benefit from nose work training in hot weather — hide treats around the house and let them search. It's low-intensity physically but exhausting mentally. Cool down, not slow down.
